Me: "Actually, I am only staying at camp through the summer so I will be done in August and want to start something next in September."
Person: "Have you started looking for jobs yet?"
Me: "Not quite it is still a little early."
Person: "What kind of jobs are you looking at?"
Me: "To be honest I am not entirely sure. I am figuring that out right now."
Me: "To be honest I am not entirely sure. I am figuring that out right now."
Person: "Well, what do you want to do?"
Me: "..."
Person: "Ok...well I am sure you will figure it out."
End of conversation.
It sounds stupid but when I get asked what I want to do I freeze. What do I want to do? I do not know if what I want to do can be encompassed in a job. It is mostly how I want to live my life. Here is a list of a few things I want to do:
I want to...
1. love intentionally and build a community
2. learn how to capture a moment with a camera
3. travel the world and taste different cultures
4. make people smile and feel good about who God created them to be
5. pray radically
6. savor little moments
7. inspire
8. learn to play guitar
9. be more honest
10. be challenged and challenge others
11. write, travel and speak
12. pour into and just love on youth
13. work hard
14. scream off of mountain tops
15. share the story of what God has done with my heart
I do not know how that can fit into a job. I pray that God can lead me in a life that glorifies him. It is a day by day job. We are so used to being defined by what we do. What if one day I could list off one of those things next time someone asks me that question? I think that is something to strive for.
So I ask you...what do you want to do?
